Constitution amendment Nepal 2025 priorities by Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung

Bhairahawa: The Constitution Amendment of Nepal 2025 is a top priority for the current government, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung. He stressed that the amendment will be designed to gain broader civic acceptance. At the same time, the government is working to promote good governance and strengthen the economy.

Speaking to media at Gautam Buddha International Airport, Gurung, who also serves as the government spokesperson, outlined the government’s dual focus on political and economic reforms.

Constitution Amendment Nepal 2025 and Political Consensus

The minister explained that a task force with members from the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) is reviewing possible constitutional changes. He added that the government wants to finalize amendments through broad political consensus. According to him, stability and public trust depend on this approach.

Good Governance and Economic Priorities

Gurung also underlined that promoting transparency, accountability, and institutional efficiency is a core government goal. He noted that strengthening governance is essential for long-term development as well as sustainable economic growth.

Gautam Buddha International Airport Operations

On aviation, Gurung highlighted plans to regularize operations at Gautam Buddha International Airport, which has faced underuse. He said a 10-point action plan is already in place. Moreover, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has started implementing it. The aim is to attract more airlines, increase passenger traffic, and position the airport as a reliable regional hub.

Why Constitution Amendment Nepal 2025 Matters

The government’s push for a constitutional amendment in 2025 carries both political and economic weight. A widely accepted constitution could reduce governance challenges. Meanwhile, efficient airport operations could boost Nepal’s tourism, trade, and foreign investment.
