Cabinet Meeting Begins, Focus on Addressing Teachers’ Protest

Kathmandu: A Cabinet meeting has commenced at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, with the ongoing nationwide teachers’ protest high on the agenda.

According to a cabinet minister, the meeting is set to deliberate on measures to address the teachers’ demands, which have led to widespread demonstrations across Kathmandu and other parts of the country.

Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai, who submitted her resignation earlier today, is not attending the meeting. Her resignation comes amid growing criticism over her inability to resolve the crisis, despite multiple rounds of dialogue with the agitating teachers.

Thousands of community school teachers have been gathering in the capital, demanding the implementation of past agreements made with previous governments. While the previous Cabinet had decided to call a federal parliamentary session to address the issue, protestors remain unconvinced.

The political pressure continues to mount on the government as educational activities remain disrupted across the country.
