Kathmandu: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli issued a strong warning to his party members on the 76th anniversary of the CPN-UML. He argued that some leaders’ careless statements are unintentionally boosting the opposition’s agenda. Oli warns UML cadres that unity and discipline are essential if the party wants to resist organized attacks from its rivals.

Oli Warns UML Cadres About Opposition Narrative

According to Oli, the opposition is working in a coordinated way to isolate the UML. However, remarks from within the party often strengthen this campaign instead of weakening it.

“Our opponents are well-organized in their efforts to attack us. But it is unfortunate that some of our own comrades, knowingly or unknowingly, make remarks that support this narrative,” Oli said.

“You Don’t Have to Be Wrong to Be Blamed”

Reiterating his message, Oli warns UML cadres that even those who are doing positive work can become easy targets.

“Those who try to harm the nation or society often lead the charge against those doing good work. You don’t need to commit an error to be blamed,” he remarked.

Foreign Influence in Nepal’s Politics

Moreover, Oli hinted that foreign powers are backing efforts to weaken the UML. He argued that external forces have often shaped Nepal’s politics and therefore party leaders must remain alert.

Call for Unity Within UML

Observers believe Oli’s comments reflect growing concern over party discipline. In addition, as the UML prepares for future elections and governance challenges, divisions could create opportunities for rivals.

Oli’s speech, therefore, highlights both internal weaknesses and external threats. Above all, he placed unity at the center of the party’s survival strategy.
