Gulmi: The Kaligandaki teachers’ protest has intensified after the local municipality instructed absent teachers to either resume their duties or submit resignations starting this Sunday. The directive aims to ensure classroom teaching continues despite ongoing protests led by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation.

Municipality Orders Teachers to Return or Resign

Rural Municipality Chairperson Bed Bahadur Thapa issued a formal notice asking all teachers to attend school during official hours. He warned that continued absence could lead to administrative action, including potential transfers.

Thapa emphasized that the teachers’ strike has severely disrupted education in the region. He stated that teachers unwilling to teach should either resign or prepare for reassignment.

The strike has left thousands of students without regular classes, raising concern among parents and education experts.

The Supreme Court of Nepal previously ordered teachers to resume teaching within three days, but many continued the protest. The municipality’s latest directive is an effort to enforce compliance while dialogue continues.
