Kathmandu: The ruling coalition in Nepal has concluded a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to finalize priorities for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2082/83.

According to CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali, the parties in power have recommended bringing a breakthrough policy and program that aims to revive the economy, reduce youth outmigration, and fortify democracy.

Key Suggestions from the Meeting:

  • Economic Recovery: Leaders stressed the need for a focused policy shift to bring the economy back on track. Improving government spending efficiency and eliminating wasteful structures and expenditures were top priorities.

  • Youth Employment & Entrepreneurship: Coalition leaders called for concrete programs around skill development, startups, commercial plantations, and market protection—all geared toward restoring hope and trust among the youth.

  • Mountain-Focused Livelihoods: To curb internal migration, the meeting emphasized promoting employment, agriculture, and animal husbandry in hill regions.

  • Democracy and Governance: Leaders discussed the importance of strengthening democratic institutions and responding collectively to “attacks from various quarters.”

  • Strategic Infrastructure Planning: Suggestions were made to prioritize national projects more effectively and reduce the scattered distribution of development resources.

  • Foreign Relations: Strengthening Nepal’s external relations was also part of the agenda.

President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to present the official Policy and Programs for FY 2082/83 in Parliament the day after tomorrow. This address will set the tone for the government’s annual economic and legislative agenda.
