India-Pakistan Cultural Fallout: Mutual Bans on Artists and Music Escalate

After India bans Pakistani artists post-Pahalgam attack, Pakistan retaliates by banning Indian songs on FM radios.

Islamabad: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India banned all Pakistani artists from working in the country. Indian authorities also blocked their social media accounts and restricted 16 Pakistani YouTube channels.

In response, Pakistan has now banned Indian songs on its FM radio stations. The ban will take effect from May 1, as announced by the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA).

PBA Secretary General Shakeel Masood confirmed the move. He said the association has instructed all FM stations across Pakistan to stop playing Indian songs immediately.

Pakistan’s Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, praised the PBA’s decision. In a letter to the association, he called it a patriotic move that reflects the sentiments of the entire country.

“This action sends a strong message of unity,” Tarar said. “It also helps protect our national values during this difficult time.”

The cultural standoff continues to grow, as both countries respond to recent violence and political tensions.
