Kathmandu: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has pledged to establish a strong foundation for socialism before retiring from politics.
Speaking at the fourth municipal conference of Dakshinkali Municipality, Prachanda said:
“Even at 71, I am determined to lead a new revolution and only leave this world after laying the foundation for socialism.”
He urged party members to strengthen grassroots organization to advance good governance, social justice, and economic transformation.
Momentum from the Madhesh Campaign
Prachanda credited the recent Terai–Madhesh Awareness Campaign for revitalizing his political energy. According to him, over 10 million people were reached during the campaign.
“By the time we reached Kanchanpur, the campaign had grown beyond a Maoist Centre movement—it became a national initiative,” he said.
He encouraged party leaders to channel this momentum into future organizing and outreach efforts.
Progress on Corruption and Diplomacy
Prachanda also claimed his tenure saw record-breaking anti-corruption measures, asserting that his government took bold actions unprecedented in Nepal’s history.
In addition, he highlighted foreign policy improvements, saying his administration laid a solid diplomatic foundation to enhance Nepal’s international presence.
