Kathmandu: Tourist arrivals in Nepal 2025 reached an all-time high in April, with 116,490 international visitors, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The top source countries were India (25,933), followed by the USA (10,053), China (9,037), and the UK (6,838). However, NTB noted that the inflow from India and China has remained relatively stable without major growth.

Recovery Beyond Pre-Pandemic Levels

The April 2025 numbers represent a 106.5% increase compared to April 2019, when Nepal received 109,399 tourists. In April 2024, arrivals were 111,376, and in April 2023, they were 98,773.

“This milestone proves Nepal has officially surpassed pre-pandemic levels, highlighting the country’s robust recovery and rising global appeal,” the NTB stated in its report.

Cumulative Figures (Jan–April 2025)

From January to April 2025, Nepal welcomed a total of 415,048 foreign tourists:

  • January: 79,991

  • February: 96,880

  • March: 121,800

  • April: 116,490

NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi expressed optimism, calling the increase “a testament to Nepal’s timeless charm, rich culture, and strong tourism heritage.”

Why It Matters

Tourism remains one of Nepal’s largest foreign exchange earners, contributing significantly to the national economy. Higher tourist arrivals strengthen local businesses, boost employment, and support Nepal’s reputation as a world-class adventure and cultural destination.
