Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called the NC CWC meeting 2025 amid growing dissatisfaction within the party over its alliance with the CPN-UML-led coalition government. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 30 (Baisakh 17), at the NC central office in Sanepa, according to an official notice issued by NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel.

All central office bearers, members, and invited members have been asked to attend. The meeting arrives at a time when internal criticism of the party’s role in the slow-moving government continues to rise.

Rising Internal Criticism Within NC

Senior leaders, including Dr. Shekhar Koirala and General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, have openly criticized the government, calling its performance “turtle-paced” and ineffective. Therefore, the upcoming CWC meeting will allow the party to formally address these concerns and evaluate its collaboration with the coalition.

Possible Political Changes

The announcement comes shortly after Deuba’s meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Speculation is growing that Deuba could lead the government himself within the next year under the current coalition arrangement. Meanwhile, the opposition CPN (Maoist Centre) has declared the government a failure and expressed support for a new government led by NC. Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has also hinted at potential changes in the ruling coalition soon.

What to Expect from NC CWC Meeting 2025

The NC CWC meeting 2025 is expected to:

  • Formally review the party’s position in the current coalition

  • Assess the government’s performance

  • Deliberate on the future of collaboration with the CPN-UML

  • Discuss strategies for upcoming elections and internal party reform
