The Election Commission urges citizens to participate in the voter list update in Nepal. Check deadlines, correction process, and online registration details.

Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has urged all stakeholders and eligible voters to actively participate in the ongoing voter list update in Nepal, conducted according to the Voter List Update Procedure, 2081.
According to EC Spokesperson Neeta Pokharel Aryal, the process began on April 13 (Baisakh 1) and applies to all Nepali citizens who turned 18 by the end of Chaitra (April 12). Citizens can now check the preliminary voter list online at www.election.gov.np. The EC will publish the final list by the end of Baisakh (May 13).
Key Provisions for Citizens:
-
Citizens can submit correction requests or objections to the preliminary list until Baisakh 14 (April 26).
-
The EC allows the removal of duplicate registrations, names of deceased individuals, or those who have renounced Nepali citizenship.
-
Applications can be submitted online or through the nearest election office.
-
New registrations and updates will continue even during the objection period.
Moreover, the EC emphasizes that accurate voter registration is crucial for the integrity of Nepal’s elections. Eligible citizens should verify their details, report any discrepancies, and ensure their names appear correctly on the electoral roll.
Furthermore, participating in the voter list update strengthens democracy and guarantees that every eligible citizen can exercise their right to vote in upcoming elections. For more information, citizens can visit the Election Commission official portal or contact their local election office.
