Indian Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Arrives in Nepal, to Inaugurate Key Energy Projects

Kathmandu: India’s Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, has arrived in Nepal today for a two-day official visit. He was warmly received at Tribhuvan International Airport by officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and representatives from the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
The visit comes at the invitation of Nepal’s Energy Minister Deepak Khadka, who extended the invite during his official visit to India on Magh 30, 2081 (February 13, 2025).
During his stay, Minister Khattar, alongside Minister Khadka, will jointly inaugurate the 220 kV Koshi Corridor transmission line project, built with Indian assistance. The project includes the Inaruwa–Basantapur–Baneshwar–Tumlingtar 220 kV transmission line and associated substations at Tumlingtar, Baneshwar, and Basantapur in Sankhuwasabha district.
Khattar is also scheduled to inspect the powerhouse and dam site of the Arun-III Hydropower Project, a significant infrastructure project funded by the Indian government. The visit will also witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint transmission line construction company between the two nations.
On April 23 (Baisakh 10), Minister Khattar will travel to Muktinath in Mustang for a cultural visit. Later the same day, he is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh.
He will conclude his visit with an evening visit to the Pashupatinath Temple, before returning to India.
