Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak addressed the recent Education Minister Bhattarai resignation and said he is unaware of the reasons behind it.

Speaking briefly to reporters on Wednesday, Lekhak confirmed that Minister Bhattarai has resigned but emphasized that the resignation was discussed privately with the Prime Minister.

“There’s no issue between Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. As for Minister Bhattarai’s resignation, she has spoken with the Prime Minister. Only they know what exactly was discussed,” Lekhak told the media.

The government is actively addressing ongoing protests by teachers demanding the passage of the School Education Act.

Lekhak said, “Talks were held last evening, and the government is ready to fulfill the demands that are currently feasible.” He added that the government is working to pass the new education bill promptly to respond to teachers’ concerns.

“Our priority is to ensure the legislative process moves forward while addressing the issues raised by teachers,” Lekhak noted.

The teachers’ movement has gained national attention, with demonstrations in multiple districts. The Home Minister emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining dialogue while ensuring public order.
