Gulmi’s Kaligandaki Rural Municipality Tells Absent Teachers to Resign

Warns of transfer process if teachers do not return to classrooms by Sunday

Gulmi: The Kaligandaki Rural Municipality in Gulmi has directed teachers who remain absent from schools to either return to their duties or submit their resignation, starting this Sunday.

Issuing a formal notice, Rural Municipality Chairperson Bed Bahadur Thapa instructed all teachers to resume teaching duties during school hours, warning of consequences for continued absence.

Thapa stated that the ongoing teachers’ protest—called by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation—has severely disrupted classroom teaching. He further said that teachers unwilling to teach should either resign or prepare for their transfer process.

Since March 31 (Chaitra 20), teachers have been staging a protest in Kathmandu, demanding reforms and rights under the leadership of the Teachers’ Federation.

Earlier, the court had already issued an order instructing teachers to resume teaching activities within three days, addressing their demands through legal channels.
