Kathmandu: Leaders from the CPN (Unified Socialist) visited a teachers’ protest in New Baneshwor on Monday to express solidarity. Present at the protest were party chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, and senior vice-president Rajendra Pandey.

However, the protesting teachers rejected the politicians’ presence, chanting slogans against them. Using loudspeakers, they urged the leaders not to join the protest physically but instead to raise their voices inside the Parliament of Nepal.

Leaders Forced to Leave the Protest Area
Following the teachers’ opposition, the Unified Socialist leaders were compelled to leave the site. While exiting, Chairman Nepal briefly addressed the media: “I have nothing more to say; we express our solidarity with the teachers’ movement.”

Background of the Teachers’ Protest
Teachers have been staging protests since March 31, demanding the immediate issuance of the School Education Act. The protest reflects growing frustration over delays in implementing educational reforms. Teachers have organized rallies across Kathmandu, pressing the government to address long-standing demands related to job security, promotion policies, and the rights of educators.
