Unified Socialist Leaders Face Protest While Showing Solidarity with Teachers
Teachers Oppose Politicians' Presence at Protest Site
Kathmandu: Leaders from the CPN (Unified Socialist) visited a teachers’ protest in New Baneshwor on Monday to express solidarity. Among those present were party chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, and senior vice-president Rajendra Pandey.
However, the protesting teachers rejected the leaders’ presence, chanting slogans against them. They used loudspeakers to urge the politicians not to join the protest but instead to raise their voices inside the Parliament.
Leaders Forced to Leave the Protest Area
Following the teachers’ opposition, the Unified Socialist leaders were compelled to leave the protest site. While exiting, Chairman Nepal briefly addressed the media, saying, “I have nothing more to say; we express our solidarity with the teachers’ movement.”
Teachers have been staging protests since March 31, demanding the immediate issuance of the School Education Act.
