Pakistan Alleges Imminent Indian Strike, Cites ‘Credible Intelligence’

Islamabad: Tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan have escalated rapidly after Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, claimed that India is planning a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours, citing “credible intelligence.”

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) early Wednesday, Tarar alleged that India is using a recent deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir as a “false pretext” to initiate military aggression.

“Any act of aggression will be met with a decisive response. India will be fully responsible for any serious consequences in the region,” Tarar stated, according to Al Jazeera.

The comments refer to last week’s attack in Pahalgam, located in Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists were reportedly killed. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but Indian officials have blamed militants operating from Pakistan.

The Indian government has not officially responded to the claims, and Minister Tarar did not provide evidence to substantiate the intelligence warning.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also weighed in on the situation. In a statement to Reuters on Monday, Asif said that a military incursion by India was “imminent”, signaling heightened alert within Pakistan’s security apparatus.

The international community is closely watching developments, as any military confrontation between the two nations risks destabilizing regional peace. Both countries have fought multiple wars, and frequent skirmishes occur along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.
