Kathmandu: Nepal recorded the highest-ever number of foreign tourist arrivals in April 2025, with 116,490 international visitors, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The top source countries were India (25,933), followed by the USA (10,053), China (9,037), and the UK (6,838). Despite the overall surge, Indian and Chinese tourist numbers have not significantly increased.

The NTB stated that the April figures represent a 106.5% increase compared to the pre-COVID year of April 2019, which had 109,399 visitors.

In April 2024, Nepal welcomed 111,376 tourists, while 98,773 arrived in April 2023. “We have officially surpassed the pre-pandemic level. This highlights Nepal’s robust recovery and rising global appeal,” the NTB said.

NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi expressed optimism, calling the increase “a testament to Nepal’s timeless charm and tourism heritage.”
