RSP Ready to Support Government if Stability at Risk, Says MP Biraj Bhakta Shrestha
Shrestha says removing the current government could push the country into uncertainty, despite its failures.

Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Deputy Parliamentary Leader Biraj Bhakta Shrestha said his party is prepared to support the current government if its fall leads to national uncertainty. He emphasized that although RSP has ideological differences with the major parties, it would prioritize political stability.
Speaking in the House of Representatives, Shrestha noted that the two largest parties—despite their differences—have come together to form the government. He stressed the risk of instability if this coalition collapses.
“Ideologically and practically, these two parties should be on different sides. But now they’re together. Many of our colleagues believe this government should not fall. I also say the same—if efforts are made to topple it, RSP is ready to support it. Because if it falls, where does the country go from there?” he said.
Shrestha pointed out that such cross-party cooperation typically only happens during national crises. However, this time, the major parties joined hands under normal conditions—yet still failed to meet public expectations.
“They removed us from government in less than three months. Now it’s been almost 300 days, and they still haven’t delivered. Why?” he asked, directing the question to the ruling alliance.
Shrestha also criticized the government’s newly announced policy and program for neglecting cultural heritage. He accused the government of sidelining an essential part of national identity.
